clutch problem

2003 Boxster S purchased new May 2003. Now with 37,000 miles, half freeway, half around town, no racing or abuse. Drove yesterday morning and it was fine. 2 hours later, clutch suddenly not engaging until almost all the way out. Do the clutches fail this soon? When they go, do they go that fast?

Sounds like it's hanging on the release bearing or guide tube. Maybe the lube has worn out much faster than usual. I'd keep an eye on it and see if you hear any sounds from behind when you depress/release the clutch pedal. Report the sounds and it will make it easier to figure out.

No, they don't unless they've been abused or there was a premature failure.
