Members,
Fabspeed is going to work on a group by with us if enough interest is shown.
They are going to give us prices depending on how many potential purchases we have per item. Listed below is the current price of the items that a group buy could be available if enough interest is shown which at that point they will give us the price.
In just speaking with them they will look at performance parts for the 986 / 987 and CAYMAN.
Item list is the following;
986 / 987 / CAYMAN MAXFLOW EXHAUST Current price is 1495
986 MAXFLO 2ndary Catbypass .........................................495/set
987 CAYMAN DUAL STYLE BOLT TIP ....................................495
986 Sport Headers with Sport Cats ..................................2295
987/CAYMAN Sport Header with Sport Cats......................2895
986 COLD AIR INTAKE SYSTEM............................................ 395
If you feel that you are seriously interested please reply which items you are looking at.
I will tally and then see what group price they are willing to give us for these items, if they make it worthwhile it would be a good thing if not, no order gets
Placed!
Hopes this helps....

My vote: 987/cayman maxflo exhaust

Isn't there a poll feature on these forums?

986 cold air intake: I will only buy if it gets down to 300 though...shipped.

Bavarian Motorist 02-21-2007 01:56 PM

Anyone know if their mufflers require you to do something w/ the ECU to be fully compatible? They guarantee no CEL, but I worry that eliminating 2 cats will cause an issue.

CALI 1 02-21-2007 02:27 PM

I had the exhaust installed now for a few months and never a problem with CEL.
Did not have to get the ECU flashed at that time.
Posted with a recap and pictures....

i am with bogg they go down 300 for intake shipped i am in

Bavarian Motorist 02-21-2007 03:37 PM

I'm willing to drive the 120miles to pick mine up to be honest.

Shipping will likely cost more than that and take longer.

thenavarro 02-21-2007 05:07 PM

I would be in for these at $400.00

986 MAXFLO 2ndary Catbypass .........................................495/set

Bavarian Motorist 02-22-2007 10:30 AM

Bump :D We need more.

I just dont understand why those cat back pipes are so exspensive 250 tops.

Joe T 03-04-2007 06:04 AM

I have found a custom exhaust shop by my work that will make the pipes for around 200. They will bolt in and out he has to take some measurements on Monday.

Sounds loud and obnoxious.

I'm interested. Would they make it and ship it?

i heard that fabspeed gets their exhaust made in China, I am not 100% sure but I got it from a good source and that is not necessary a big problem since we are all here to make business and labor in China is cheap but so its the material they use. I don't know, I was this close to get the entire system from fabspeed until I heard this so i am going to wait.

FabSpeed

I am interested in the cold air intake and secondary cat bypass pipes. Rocco

I'm probably a year out from going to a new exhaust but i am more interested in Milltek and Awe.

Both of these have very high ratings from Cayman club members and they both have an extra pipe between the two exhaust units to ensure no resonance at low RPM's.

What does the cold air intake system do?

(forgive the noob question)

Chills, I think it has to do with keeping your beer cold longer, but not sure. ;)

Screws up your sensors and can give you a CEL.

Joe T 03-23-2007 07:33 AM

Well I found a used set of the fabspeed cat back pipes.I installed myself fairly easy install perfect fit took about an hour but I have access to a lift. When I first started the car I heard a different exhaust sound BETTER it sounds nice. Then the Test drive . First thing I felt was the throttle response was way better more snappier response. Overall it was worth doing I paid 350$ for the pipes they were 8 months old still alot of bucks . :D

I was going to write a nice long explanation, but I think this sums it up :

A cold air intake is a system used to bring down the temperature of the air going into a car for the purpose of increasing the power of the internal-combustion engine.

All cold air intakes operate on the principle of increasing the amount of oxygen available for combustion with fuel. Because cooler air has more density for a given volume, cold air intakes generally work by introducing cooler air from outside the hot engine bay.
