$135 Gas Cap

I am crazy about my Boxster, but this seems over the edge. Wasn't there some kinda recall on gas caps a few years back. My guess is that this is for looks only.

Thats the techquipment gas cap, the new recalls look like your stock gas cap. The techquipment is incase you wanna have a pretty looking gascap.

I am ashamed to admit that I have that gas cap. But, at least I got $50 off from the dealership with a coupon they gave me at time of purchase.

Still, ashamed. :o

That gas cap looks nice but consider the damage it can do if you drop it vs. the plastic one.

Considering it's "aluminum-look" plastic, not aluminum, there isn't a problem other than the whole "scuffed up, now showing black plastic underneath" issue.

It's tethered and I always hang it on the hook when I'm refueling so it's no problem.

When I first saw that pic on a website I thought to myself, man gotta get one. Then when I saw that price I said, I guess not. Shame though, it looks awesome.

It is illegal to pump your own gas in NJ.
What??? I can't even think of ANYWHERE here that even offers that anymore.

eslai 02-19-2007 04:26 PM

I believe it's the same situation in Oregon.

Hi,

It's particularly silly when you consider that it lives it's life under the Gas Flap where no one can see it...

Happy Motoring!... Jim (don't need it, don't want it... couldn't afford it if I did)'99

I would have to have the most severe case of 130 bucks burning a hole in my pocket and even then!! or......the hottest chick ever tell me she loves boxsters with alumilook gas caps :D

djomlas 02-19-2007 06:53 PM

looks nice, but pretty much useless

I think if you get one of these and "de-snork" the car you'll get anywhere from a 0 to extraordinary HP increase depending on who you are and what your opinions on the subject are.

You know you will also have to buy these to complete the look!

Anything less would just be a fopaux :D

Jim's right. Much too pretty to keep hidden under a lid. It should be sold as a package with a clear plexiglass gas flap.
