good throttle response?

I was idling in the driveway today and gave the throttle a "blip". Hmmm. Did it again, but this time with a little more force and the door driver's door open, ear toward the side grill. I discovered that before the rpms climb, there's an immediate "flat spot", for lack of a better way of describing it. I also heard what seemed to be a flap opening/closing, causing a thud before the throttle responded.

Anyone else experienced this? 2002 S btw.

Yeah, that's pretty much stock coming off idle as far as I know. Don't get any lag when at speed and I punch it tho...

Think it might just be the intake manifold recirculation valve or whatever it's called kicking in. I actually kinda like it, it's like a little breath-in before that magical flat-6 rev

Its the combination of the factory Motronic mapping (largely for emissions and efficiency) and the typical heavy German flywheel. I am planning on doing some type of re-flash for mine, and if I ever have to pull the clutch you can bet a lightweight flywheel is going in. Otherwise, it can wait until I do a 3.6 swap.

You've explained it well. Indeed, no lag at speed, that's why I thought it was just a design thing. You wouldn't think, though, that you could expect this from a Porsche, though?

I may be looking into a clutch. Do you have an opinion on one?
