Anybody tried a heated seat kit?

While the Boxster was out of commission, we were using my mom's car with heated seats and the wife loved them. I thought about swapping out the seats for heated ones, but then I found some kits online so I'm considering installing a heated seat kit into the Boxster.

Here is one of the kits I found Universal Heated Seat Kit and here's another type Customized Heated Seat Kits

So, has anyone ever installed one of these or know anything about them?

TIA!

I'm not sure about the kits, but I have the heated seats in my Boxster. They're nice, but it seems the bolsters are not heated. This kinda feels weird, because your ass is getting nice and warm, but your thighs are cold!

If your gonna go through all that work, so buy a "home medics" chair massager thing that you put over a chair that has massage and heat and take it apart and put the components in your seat. That way you have massage and heated seats for less money than those kits. I have one for sale that we dont use if you wanna make an offer.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. The price is right, too. I thought it would be more expensive than that.

When I was doing the SUV mod thing, we got this kit from JP Customs. It worked great but I would call I shop and get a price on install. You can't imagine how hard it is to get the leather off and back on. I gave up and let a shop do it.

HI,

Here's the one I'm going with: http://www.heaterseat.com/. I like this because you can custom cut them to the proepr size, unlike many Universal Kits. Also, it will be possible to use OEM Switches w/o a lot of work or issues. Hope this helps...

Those look great Jim, I would like to use the factory switches as well. Are you going to do the install yourself?

Hi,

Yes, I will do the install. I have to actually see the kit to determine the proper wiring sequence for the OEM switch, but won't be too difficult. I think the CF heat coils are the way to go, longer lasting, better heat...

Jim

Take some pictures while you are doing your install and post them in the DIY forum. Heated seats would be a nice upgrade even for those of us who would only use them 3 months a year. I would be willing to spend $300-400, so DIY would be the only way for me to go.
