Top Gear vs. Rednecks in Alabama...

This past Sunday's episode of Top Gear was one of the best. Basically, the intrepid trio came to the U.S., each bought a vehicle for $1000.00 and road-tripped from Miami to New Orleans. The portion of the trip in Alabama is destined to be one of the most amusing/disturbing segments ever and can be seen here:

Did anyone else catch this one?

I saw this today on dumpalink. I find it hard to believe. I really like Top Gear but think there is a lot of selective editing here.

So true, but i still cant get over how in redneck fashion the "boys" showed up in the back of a pickup truck with a dog NO LESS! So redneckish

For the most part, I found it hilarious! It's sad that many people across the way will watch that and think that's what the US is, but ignorance happens.

I watched the entire episode intently. I think the highlight of that special edition was the things they said/did that you could never get away with on US TV for fear of not being PC. This certainly would not fly on US TV: The removal method of the cow from the Camaro. Magnificent.

The US's only contribution to western civilization... right on red. That's pretty funny! So was fat Stig.

Check this out too. "Sweet Home Alabama"

Its really not hilarious, thats why the whole world hates us. They think were all a bunch of gay bashing hicks, makes sense that everyone is yelling death to america. The saddest part is that the local law enforcement are probably as ignorent as the rest of the town and wouldnt have pressed charges on them for agravated assault. The cops probably would have billy clubbed the top gear people behind their own car (where the camera doesnt face). Freedom isnt free is the rant of "those people", but when others come in with their own freedom of speech the tables suddenly turn. I guess you could argue that since they arnt americans they dont have rights, but im not familar with the law.

They had to pull the bit on you tube. Something about copy right infringement.

RandallNeighbour 02-15-2007 08:49 AM

Never mind on the request for bit torrent locations... I found season 9, epsode 1 and it's downloading now.
