How many base 987s are on this site?

Seems like every 987 is an "S".

I honestly have seen about....3.... including myself!

Post if you know anyone who has one on here or if you yourself have one.

I'd like to know I'm not alone :(

Thanks

Yo BM, set the member count to: 2

Rennlist has a 987 Forum and Cayman Club is a 987 "Hardtop" Forum

Picking up my 987 on Saturday! There are a number of others here...

SD987 02-14-2007 03:28 PM

John Y, except for switching to 17s, is the final spec the same as in this thread?

http://986forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7974

As a former 987 base owner, I still think that model is the best bang for the buck offered by Porsche.

Soetekouw 02-14-2007 03:41 PM

Mine will be here next month.

Dr. Kill 02-14-2007 04:17 PM

Satisfied 987 non-S owner here too

tweedenglish 02-14-2007 04:23 PM

Count me as a member too. Base with 6 speed and sport package.

Bavarian Motorist 02-14-2007 04:36 PM

Thank god there are others!

You noobs should post more :D

Btw, John Y, I know it's too late now, but I live in NYC area also and drive through the city every day and 18"s are fine for me.

I'll let you a drive or ride if you want to see :)

Anyone else w/ a 5 speed like me?

Dr. Kill 02-14-2007 05:01 PM

So not only are there non-S 987 owners here, but many of us live by you.

I am thinking party at Bavarian Motorist's house!

Yes - when you look at the ratios, we essentially have gears 1,2,3,4 & 6 - basically the 6 speed without gear 5. That one didn't seem necessary to me for driving in this country and not seeing much track time.

Trakehner 02-14-2007 05:30 PM

Hmmm... non metallic paint, heated seats and a CD changer. I wanted to get more "base" than that, but I really wanted those heated seats...

Thanks - yeah, ultimately it came down to the somewhat better comfort that the 17s offer (especially on a non-PASM car) and my desire to reduce unsprung weight and rotational mass on a car without a whole hell of a lot of torque, like ours. It probably borders on the obsessive, but hey - that's me!

I probably could live with the 18- in. ride and still like the design better, I also think they look like more of a "right" size for the proportions of this car. But the 17s have grown on me, and I really kind of like the 'retro' high sidewall look.

Rail26 02-14-2007 05:50 PM

I got a base.

Basalt Black Metallic, Tan Interior, 18 inch wheels, heated seats, windstop and Hi Fi.

Palabra Arriba!

Almost - the switch to 17s, and I opted for sand beige instead of black, under the weight of popular opinion...will probably add a forest green rear center console from Bumper Plugs in the future, too; I tried too late to add it to my order.

Can't wait to pick it up and start logging some miles!

super66 02-14-2007 06:33 PM

I have the flyest white base in Chi town.....5 Speed, and soon to be sitting on 19's just like bmuss' white S

Jonesy08054 02-14-2007 07:15 PM
