What do I need to look for when...........

I pick up my 2007 Boxster S? It should be in next month.

I know, the standard stuff, engine, tires, steering wheel, but for all you knowledgeable folks out there, are there any little things that I should pay attention to?

How about programming of the key. Is there a list of functions that are important to be programmed in?

Thanks.

Specs of the car:

As far as I know it should come already pre-programed. You should'nt have to program it, unless you are adding something extra, like a remote starting or something along those lines. Great guy, by the way!

Don't worry about a thing. The dealer should take care of everything. Just relax and enjoy the event. If you miss anything you can always come back and fix it.

Great options choices.

Mine should be out (from storage) next month. Almost feels like a delivery of a new car as I only have visited it once a month while stored so starting to forget its looks. :)

If you plan on putting the clear side markers on, you might want to have them do it in five minutes, instead of you doing it in 15 (and possibly breaking a clip).

As far as keys go, no programming, but make sure you get two + plastic valet/spare.

Any OBC functions you'd like to have done, they could prep while you wait and you may be able to get for free (?). You don't have PCM so the dealer will have to program the following, if so desired:

* Daytime Running Lights - on the 987 this equates to all four lights and sidemarkers on, not just headlights like with some other models.
* Auto door-lock at 5 mph
* Sidemarkers blink with turn signals - on the 987 it's either/or...side markers always on, or side markers always off but blink with turn signals. Not both.

Any sort of child seat preparation. But I'm sure you've already considered this, if applicable.

I doubt there are any TSBs (service bulletins) out on the 07 yet, but if there are, they could be taken care of now.

A nice, windy road to have a little fun. :D (at break in revs, of course.)

I'd ask them to hook it up to a PST tool (fancy Porsche OBC reader) and show you (not tell you) how many stage one and stage two redlines the engine has endured during testing or local dealership moves around the lot or on test drives (if any exist) so you know what you are starting with.

It's CYA for sure, but I would do it if I were buying a brand new Pcar... who knows how the few miles that have been put on the car have been put on the car (hope that makes sense).

This way, you can document any redlining recorded so that if you have any warranty claims on the engine, you can tell them with great assurance that those particular over-revs were their doing, not yours.

They'll surely think you are wierd asking for this, but it won't take more than five minutes and you can drive off knowing your car's engine hasn't been thrashed in the first 25 miles of its lifespan.
