Best looking Cup Holder I've Found
 

Since I own a 1999 MY, I don't have a cup holder. I've read this forum and done my own research as well. None really looked like what I wanted ..... until I found the one at this link:

Be sure to select Porsche from the list on the left.

I like the placement and the 2-cup capacity.

Does anyone have any experience with this set up?

Looks okay. I wonder if your elbow would hit that thing every time you shift? Can't open that compartment up all the way after its installed. I like the way it conforms with the shape of the top though. :cheers:

I agree with porsche986spyder, looks a little cumbersome.

And if you are going to spend over a hundred bucks for a cup holder you might go full tilt and get the one from:

I have this cupholder installed on by 2000. It cam with the car. Works great as a elbow rest, jut ok for a cut holder. It does hold two cups, but is in an awkward position for good use.

You know you are the first person I have heard that actually had one installed ;)

I think they look great and would be a nice armrest, but as you point out it looks like you would need to reach with your left hand to get your drink.

How is the looks/feel of it in general (OEM Look & feel)??

And Travis is correct about questioning the wisdom of $100+ for a cup holder that works best as an arm rest.

I'm still looking -- a good value is my criteria, i.e. value = what you get for what you pay!

I like to live dangerously so I have the ones that snap into the holes in the side vents and don't hold much of anything and can do serious damage to the vents if smacked around at all.

The car is simply not designed for drinking beverages inside it, is it? Odd how Germans will make sure there's an ashtray but never put any cup holders in the cars because "drinking or eating while driving is not safe"

And smoking a cigarette while driving 100+ mph on the autobahn is safe?

x2 for Ultimate Cupholders - I have and like them. Kinda pricey for what they are, but they work well and look decent when installed. I'd recomment getting the grey felt liner if you have an interior color other than black (this way it'll blend in w/ the stainless steel and not stick out). Also, I've heard some people w/ TIPs have a problem putting one on the drivers side, but I think that's easily be fixed by trimming the top down a bit.

On a recent 2 hour trip, I got with me the best...i mean the best looking cup holder ever (IMHO). On a turns and fast accelaration, it adjust by itself so the drink wont spill and when it get quiet, it talks to me and act as my GPS but sometimes I get reminded once in awhile when i get carried away on turns :D

Hey i think i have the same cup holder as you unklekraker. Mine is Lebanese, where was yours made?

Mine has got the version 2.0 update, updates include Wind Sensor to remind me that its windy when the top is down. And Temp reminder... About every 3 minutes it reminds me of how cold or warm it is in the car.

I think we have the same cup holder. It still has 1.0 version as Im the original owner but has the capability of ver. 2.0 like what you have in regards of wind sensor and temp. reminder. the only thing that sucks is, it's very annoying once you dont turn off or follow the reminder/sensor..you know what i mean! BTW..it's made part China and Philippines.

Safe unless the cigarette butt gets sucked into the side vent when you toss it out the window and the engine catches fire :D

I bought a pair a couple of weeks ago. I've installed them, but haven't yet tried them out. I think they will work well for my purposes, which is basically to hold a bottle of water with a cap on it. I don't believe they would work as well for an open cup of coffee.

Whatever you do - don't upgrade to Version 3.0. Unfortunately, I had this upgrade performed for me around 6 months ago and it actually un-installs the cupholders. Hell, if you aren't careful, it also tries to uninstall the Boxster along with, 1/2 of House, 1/2 of Bank Account, and 1/2 of all worldly goods. I was "lucky" enough that I caught it halfway through - so I managed to keep the Boxster. It was close. Of course, I don't have a house anymore either... But I do still have a Boxster.

Jeez.. folks are serious about cup holders. I figured by now there would be some pics of cute women in the passenger seat holding your drinks ;)
