PPI - list fo what to check for

Is there a speciefic list of what a PPI should include?? I'm sure that they probably vary from indy shop to dealer and possibly from dealer to dealer, so I want to make sure they check out everything correctly.

Finally, is there any way to check for body damage on the unibody design other than having a 4 wheel laser alignment?

I'm sure this has been discussed to death somewhere, so if you can send me the link that would be fine. I did a search on PPI and "inspection", but couldn't find what I am looking for.

Thanks!

Some great advice from forum member RandalNeighbor is here: http://www.iwantaporsche.net/BoxsterBuyersTips.htm

Really good advice beyond PPI. The Voice of Used Box Experience has learned and shared his experiences.

Follow this link to the CPO checklist on pdf file. I think this is what you are looking for.

This expert advises to pay for a dealer to a CPO inspection. You will also see some horror stories.

You are right to do research. Do a lot. Good luck!

Thanks for the response; yes, I am doing a ton of research as this is a big investment for me (as most others, I'm sure).

I have read RandalNeighbor's piece and have it printed off when I go to look at a car... great stuff and very helpful.

The Renntech link was interesting, but I cannot open the pdf file, as I am not a member. Looks like the one thing I gleaned is that I should ask for a pressure test on the coolant expansion tank.

So, I'm back to square one... anyone have a list of what to specifically check for? The main reason I ask is that I'm planning on going to an Indy shop and want to make sure they check everything important.

Also still wondering about the alignment question... is this the only way to tell if the car was been wrecked?

Is there anything else you would ask to have checked that's not on the standard CPO?

As for body damage, would a body shop be able to determine if it has been in a wreck? Or is the laser alignment the only way?

The alignment won't show if it's been wrecked... only if it's been repaired poorly or not at all. A good mechanic can look over the car on a lift and see what's been replaced or is far newer than the rest of the car.

Some guys use a paint density meter all over the car to see if any panels have been bondo'd or resprayed where the paint is thicker or thinner than factory specs.
