Just Bought a Boxster

Hi all,

I just bought myself a 2000 Artic Silver 2.7 5spd and absolutely love it! Previous car was a Alfa Romeo GTV V6 and there's no comparison between the two. It's got the 3 spoke wheel, 996 gearknob, bose stereo, 4 airbags, 17's with nice 255's on the rear.

I live in Sydney Australia, here's a few pics of the beast.

Are there many other aussies on this site?

Dude, you got a major problem I see. Those idiots at Porsche put the steering wheel on the wrong side. I would take it back and make them fix this. This is a major safety issue.

kouks 02-13-2007 02:45 AM

Nope, it's a special eddition "passenger drive" Boxster, your missus will love it!

HIFI 02-13-2007 03:13 AM

At least the ignition is on the right side...

Boxter 02-13-2007 07:03 AM

good point...and congrats!

CJ_Boxster 02-13-2007 07:13 AM

Nice! congrats, the Leather looks nice and soft still!

jmabasa 02-13-2007 07:14 AM

Nice ride man!

porschedude 02-13-2007 07:47 AM

congrats on your purchase. looks very nice and clean. you may want to paint the brake calipers red and make them really standout. It's a cheap and simple DIY and it really makes a huge difference.

FrayAdjacent 02-13-2007 11:09 AM

NICE! But your steering wheel is on the wrong side....

:P

70Sixter 02-13-2007 12:03 PM

At least it is not upside down! Which I understand can happen to a LHD car if transported to Australia. Crikey!

Congrats and ENJOY!

racer_d 02-13-2007 12:41 PM

Not only is his steering wheel on the wrong side, so is his ignition key :D

I will never understand how right handed people can shift with the left hand.
I can barely open a soda can with my left.
How much in US dollars is costing you to fill up the gas tank?

kouks 02-13-2007 01:13 PM

Thanks guys!

To fill up the tank it costs me $65 AUS which is $50 US. What does it cost you guys?

PerfectLap: I am also tragically right handed, but when I drive in the US, it fells weird for me to change gears with my rigt hand.

The only thing I'm not sure about on the car is the red seatbelts.....

porschegeorg 02-13-2007 01:14 PM

I was thinking the same thing. I dont think I could even operate my tip with
my left hand!!

NickCats 02-13-2007 01:18 PM

In high school my buddy had a Jaguar with the steering wheel on the right.

Never got a chance to drive it, but is was really strange to be sitting in the front in the driver's seat and not be driving !

Great looking car, kouks ! Congrats and enjoy...

Nick

very similar petrol prices here. I think I got slightly more than half a tank for $25 US. So it would have been $45-50 to fill the tank.

Red seat belts are cool! Very Sports car...

Adam 02-13-2007 02:55 PM

Congrats. Nice ride. Just curious, does the shift pattern look like this?

5 3 1
l l l
6 4 2

kouks 02-13-2007 04:03 PM

Nope,

Gearbox, linkages etc are the same across LHD and RHD cars around the world. The main difference is the wheel, cluster, pedal set obviously and the brake booster is on the RHS under the hood.

1 3 5
2 4 R

No 6th unfortunately.....

I'm guessing there's not many RHD boxsters on this site hey.

FrayAdjacent 02-13-2007 04:49 PM

My last fillup, 13.15 gallons @ $2.20/gal = $28.91US

Not too bad. If I ran it dry, it would probably only be about $34 or so.... until our gas prices go up again. :(

Bavarian Motorist 02-13-2007 05:34 PM

OMG I LOVE THIS NEW THREAD DISPLAY!!!

Anyways, my Boxster only gets 28mpg est by EPA, but for some reason I average 19.5 total :D

I need to drive slower LOL
