Dash light for top stays on

First post here, I expect many more to follow. I Just picked up a '98.

Need a little help with some dash lights.

The Top light stays on even when the top is closed in the UP position. It appears to be properly latched. This doesn't happen everytime, but most of the time.

The trunk light is on when the car is starter and stays on. Again, the trunk appears to be closed properly. It goes off almost as soon as you start driving, almost like a bit of vibration trips the sensor?

I suspect both problems are caused by some misadjusted sensor. But I am new to these cars and thought the collective brain trust must have experience with this.

Sounds like the microswitch in the receiver for the top latch may be going bad.

Edit* Scratch that idea. The light should go out before the top is latched. Are you sure you are extending the top all the way? The light should go out signaling that it is fully extended and ready to be latched.

Most likely you did not hold the switch down until the light goes out.

.
That would be the "Spoiler" light and it should stay on till you start moving forward (going through it's calibration at start up) If it stays on make sure you do not exceed 75 MPH and get it serviced.

My .02

edit: Damn almost forgot . . . . .

Welcome to the group Chuck!
