tire question!

Hey guys. I am new to the forum, and a new boxster owner as well. I bought an 01' boxster in December from a dealer in Toronto. He had put brand new winter tires on the car, hoping that this would help sell the car to someone who would be driving the car in the winter. Well I am not. It is currently being stored in my garage, so here is my question. Which tires to buy and should I stay with the original/ suggested sizes. 205/50/17 and 255/40/17. I am leaning towards the bridgestone potenza re750. Will these tires look good and perform well, and yes I have been on tire rack and looked at my options but I am looking for some feedback from you guys. P.S. when I get my new tires installed, I will be selling my winters as I do not intend to drive my car in the snow. Dunlop winter sport M3's. 205/50/17 and 255/40/17 only 460 kms on them, I did drive the car a little before the snow started to fall. If anyone is interested let me know. Thanx for your time guys.

Bridgestone Potenza is pretty good. So is Pirelli Pzero and BF Goodrich. I like BF Goodrich cause it is quiet, provides great traction and longer wear....good overall value. Pzero is superb too....sticks to the road like glue but wears out very fast....probably the best tire but most expensive and wears fast. Don't get Continental cause it's noisy after some months although it's a good tire. I don't know anything about Kumho but some folks say it's pretty good. If money is not an issue, then get Pzero but Potenza is fine.

I currently have the Bridgestone S-03s which are now discontinued. I believe the tires which you state are the replacements for the S-03. If the new ones are anything like the S-03 I would highly suggest them.

I've run the S-03 on 4 different occasions and on two different wheel sizes and they all preformed great. However, be aware that they do wear fast....real fast for me at least. I usually get anywhere from 5,000miles to 7,500miles for the rears.

I've got Ventus Sport K104's that came on the car. Not the tires I would've chosen but, they do alright. Hankook tires are chinese and I've had bad experiences with some I had put on my BMW. The one's on my BMW had less than 20 miles on them, hit a pothole, split the sidewall and they wouldn't replace it. Not a quality tire in my opinion.

Yokohama's are some of the best tires I've ever had and will continue on with that when these wear out.

205/40-zr17 up front
255/35zr17 up back

These are supurb but be carefule in wet and colder climates!!!!

Just put on some michelin pilot alpines for winter. very nice.

I am contemplating an upgrade to some 18s for summer in a couple months.

This is what I have in mind and I will be putting new pzeros on,

New configuration will be

225/40 zr18 n1 up front
265/35 zr18 n1 down back

18's feel better in my opinion for the summer months. Im looking forward to it!!

Cheers
