Saturn Sky Redline Review

This is a bit old so many of may have already come across it, but this is a very funny review of the Saturn Sky Redline.

Pity that a bunch of folks will buy the thing before they realize what an actual POS it really is.

Keep an eye out in the resale mags and watch how the used prices take a nosedive; always a good indicator of its true value.

I liked a lot of the comments at the end. Lots of "the miata is better, no the sky is better.." Our Boxsters are better!

I think the rag tops on the SKY and SOLSTICE look terrible in the back. It looks like the way I wrap a gift to get it shut!

Saw my first redline edition on the freeway today, one of those happen to pass'em, he/she sees you and then catches up to either a. engage in some sort of high-speed hijinks or b. roadster camaraderie. Sadly I was exiting, so could do neither.

The first Boxster owner to get spanked by one of these in a straight line should be sure to post to this thread.

If poor resale was an indicator of true value then the boxster is in trouble...

I like both of these cars. Good value for the money, esp the juiced version.

Does this remind anyone else of the Fiero? A beautiful body (it's dated now, but in 1983, it was hot) set over a bunch of GM parts bin components that somehow don't seem to work together well. It was developed on a super tight budget in a very short time.

That car lasted 5 years, let's see if this one does any better.

The problem is that GM sees this type of car as a niche vehicle without much profit potential so they won't put enough resources into a proper development cycle. It's more of an image vehicle for them to get more people into showrooms to buy Ions and Vues. The problem with this philosophy is that the quality of these underdeveloped cars does more damage to GMs reputation than good in the long run. I worked at GM, there are a few real car enthusiasts there, but in the end, the marketing and finance departments decide what cars are sold, no matter what Bob Lutz tells us.

In contrast, look at Toyota's MR2, they never sold many of them compared to the Camry. But they were great little cars that had peaple coming in for a Camry when the time for a bigger car came along.

GM has massive problems, starting with its culture.

I don't GM around in its current fashion in 5 yrs. Some form of rescue by another maker.

Too bad, lots of potential down the shoot!
