There are actually instructions in the manual about this. There's a little hole in the plastic wheel well cover right behind the markers. The hole is covered with a rubber plug. Take the plug out, and insert a screwdriver into the hole. While pushing the internal release with the screwdriver, pull out the marker out with your fingers.

this is correct a small screw driver and wiggle it around till you find the part you have to push on....I would recommend you don't just pull it out, there was a member on the board that pulled his out and said they never really clicked in snug again on his 987.....scrrew driver and read the manual....I will say the angle the manual says to take seems a bit off....so move it around and you'll know when you found the clip....
