Will this key work for me

I have been using a key with 2 buttons on my 2001 car. I see people on ebay selling 3 button keys for my cars year model. Will these 3 button keys work for me too or should I just play it safe with a 2 button key? TIA!

Are talking about this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PORSCHE-3-BUTTON-KEYLESS-ENTRY-KEY-FOB-REMOTE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33723QQihZ009QQi temZ190070061834QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW#ebayphotoh osting

If you do not have the service tag that comes with the key brand new then you are wasting your money, can not be reprogrammed without the code.

And what would you use the third button for?

Save yourself the headache and buy a new one, maybe that slick Carrera GT style FOB

The 3 button remote started for model year 2001.

But without a bit more info it is like you asking on an internet message board if your shoes would fit someone in my house.

Why would you need a three button remote?

Umm...

let's see...

1. door locks
2. front trunk
3. rear trunk

I'm glad my 2001 came with a three button remote! It's hella handy!

Hi,

I like it! Will it even work and be programmable for a Boxster I wonder? $134.50 is a little steep though...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
