Convert frunk release to a manual lever?

I'm wanting to convert my frunk release to a manual lever, has anyone done this?
I'm thinking some type of bike brake cable and a lever, I replaced my frunk release mechanism, it worked twice no does not release the hood, I hear the mechanism pulling when I push the button but the stays firmly locked.
The emergency release cable came off when I pulled on it.
So right now I have no idea how to even get into it.

Gave a passing thought to race car type hood pins and bypassing the latch altogether!

Details on your car? Early Boxsters have a lever on the door jamb.

Mines a 2003 had the electronic release and emergency cable in the wheel well, but the cable just pulled out, the mechanism works but is not releasing, maybe it needs adjusted? but cant do anything since I'm locked out of the frunk.

My 00 and 97 do have manual release for both trunks, so if you source the parts it shouldn't be too complicated to retrofit. Check the PET catalogue, all parts you need are listed there

I got it open last night, lubed it with lithium grease, and it seems better, ill keep working at it, but i need to refit the emergency release.
BTW, is the any trim or edge protector for the lip of the hood, mine is worn from years of fingers opening the hood.

It’s likely that the release motor is just crapping out despite sounding like it’s working. Had that happen to my ‘04.

ok. get the door sill umbrella holder from a uk car - because they are RH drive it will sit on the left where the electric frunk/trunk levers set. order two pull toggles for an old 911 (they had cable pulls to release the engine cover) and rig up your manual system (drill a hole in each end of the umbrella holder, run the cable through, connect to toggle). all oem, all manual.
