Seat belt

I have a 2002 Boxster with 98,000 miles. A very simple problem. My driver side seat belt retract spring is very week and won't retract all the way. Can the spring be tightened or am I looking at replacing the belt? Maybe new belts on both sides might not be such a bad idea.
Cheers, Elliot

Try to clean the belt first, use a bucket with warm water with a detergent and another one with clean water for rinsing. Should work
