Long daily commuting

I have a '99 with 104K miles. IMS bearing was done and the car has been impeccably cared for mechanically and cosmetically. I love the car so I have been driving it to work, which is about 65 miles each way, mostly highway at 70-75 MPH. So the engine hums along at about 3200 +/- RPMs for an hour straight, each way.

My wife thinks I'm crazy putting miles on the car but I love it and prefer driving it over my new 2025 Ford. Anyone else do long daily commutes?

Not as much today, but it was my daily driver for about 6 years (50-60 miles a workday). I've put about 115,000 miles on it in the last 12 years (205k and counting).

My 03 is a year-round DD, albeit right at around 25 miles each way, if i slab it. Backroads routes can nearly double that.

I just rolled over 99,000 during my 50-mile commute this morning! I drive mine to work any time the weather allows me to put the top down. Maybe if I had a low-milage 986, I might be worried about putting too many miles on the car, but I didn't by my Boxster as an investment. I bought it so I could enjoy the drive. And I do!

That's my mindset. My round trip to work up to a couple of years ago was 60 miles. My 2000 has over 150,000 miles on it. I think driving the car contributes to longevity.

We had about 10 days of icy road conditions during the winter and I couldn't drive the car. I was more concerned that lack of activity would harm the car than driving it.

My wife used to daily her stock boxster 80 miles (round trip) for years.

I never gave a thought to failures. If failures happen then you fix them.

I daily my 99, but it has been repowered; so its not an apples to apples comparison.

Drive it you'll love every minute.
