Ignition Switch Question not returning from Start to ON
Ignition Switch: The key is not always springing back fully from the START position to ON. When it doesn’t return all the way, my wipers won’t work until I manually click the key back a little.
The key action also feels slightly stiff. I recently replaced the ignition switch with the URO white switch. - Has anyone experienced this with the URO switch? - Is there anything in the key cylinder or mechanism that can be lubricated safely? - Could the electrical switch install be slightly misaligned? |
I installed a URO ignition switch that failed after about a month. I replaced it with another URO switch and that one has been fine for several years. I have seen several threads that suggest URO's quality control may not be at the same level as some other brands.
Given the symptoms you described and my experience, I think it's possible that you installed a defective part. Good luck. |
Thanks. I have cleaned my outer Ignition switch and hoping for the best now. Will report back if it solved it or not.

I’m not a fan of URO parts.
I bought a replacement corner headlamp lens for my drivers side headlamp with the washer nozzle. It wouldn’t even fit. I had to use an exacto knife to do some surgery on it and finally got it to click on. When I installed the headlamp it cracked. Bought a genuine Porsche item and it clicked on easily and has been fine. The URO didn’t sit flush either, looked bad. I should have spent the extra 20$ and saved the hassle and the money spent on an inferior part. I think a used genuine part would better than a new URO item. |
I had the exact same URO corner light issue. Used a razor to shave it down and it still doesn't sit flush.
