You can also get the cheap tops from eBay but good luck getting someone to install it. When I called around about installation and asked about bringing my own top I was told that unless it was a top from specific resellers they would not quote me for the job and would charge straight time or not do it because there were too many unknowns. Book time for a top is 10 hours. Yes some people can do it in less time especially if not their first time. The math maths.

I'm ignorant about the process. 10 hours? That's crazy. However, I bet your new top looks awesome, and it will last forever in your climate. Maybe you can post a pic of the completed look. I could be inspired, lol.

Years ago a P-car fan was active in PCA and helped a bunch of people with various top installs, GAFF, OEM '03 to '99 etc. He documented some of them and and even discussed how to sew in a clear plastic window. I captured some of those writeups here. https://sites.google.com/site/mikefocke2/thetop-itsmaintaincereplacement

These were done maybe 20 years ago so some of the picture sites have gone defunct. But they will at least give you an idea of the complexity of any approach you are considering.

Interesting. You are ignorant about the process, but think 10 hours is ‘crazy’ (note that the OP commented that 10 hours is the book time).

Maybe read upon the process. Hmmmm…

I've read about the process here and there... but until I read the "10 hours" I thought it might be a less time consuming process. You know... remove some nuts, bolts, fabric, etc. I did note that the poster mentioned 10 hours. That's from where I drew my 10 hours statement. That's why I mentioned the crazy book time.

There was nothing interesting about my post, in spite of my admitted ignorance.

I'm the resident smartass here. lol
