Boxster 1998 - Cam Deviation Bank 2

Hi, I need some help diagnosing whether the actuator on Bank 2 might be stuck. Previously, the deviation was stuck at -9, so I replaced the guides on Bank 2, but now it’s showing -15. Could you please advise? I just want to confirm if the actuator is the issue before purchasing a replacement. I’ve already replaced the actuator on Bank 1.

For context, the car has 40K miles and sat unused for over 12 years.

Check the oil pressure and make sure the solenoid is getting power and ground before replacing the actuator. Since the car sat so long, varnish or sludge in the oil passages could also cause the cam timing issue.

Thank you for getting back to me. The solenoid is receiving power—I verified it with the Foxwell scanner by sending a signal, and the engine idle changes as expected. Bank 1 had similar issues, and I replaced the actuator there. It was definitely an expensive fix, lol. I’ll check the oil pressure next. The car runs fine overall, but I’ve parked it for now since the timing is off.

OP, how are you reading bank 2? My understanding is that it doesn't show in the early cars. I can't see it on my 99 using Durametric.

My 98 also only shows 1 bank one but I am able to activate both using Durametric.

I'm using foxwell nt510. It shows you both Cam Deviation 1 & 2
