Why can't I get this last sway bar drop link back in?

I did 3 with no issues whatsoever, figured I would finish the job and sure enough got stuck on the last one.

All the other 3 just came out with a hammer tap, and then the new ones slid back on without too much hassle.

This one was really tough to get out, and needed to be ”unscrewed" out. When I finally got it out I thought I was good, but now the new one won't go in, the only way I can make any progress is to " screw" it in, but eventually it just spins and makes no further progress. I've tried the hammer with no luck. Any ideas? It does seem like there is some weird lip inside the hole it's supposed to go into.

Not sure why this one is giving me a headache, of course I thought this would be " quick" and need the car tomorrow for work. 🤦

Follow up question, if nobody here has a genius suggestion, is it safe to put the wheel back on and drive it slowly without that one rear drop link to a garage to have it looked at?

That lip you mentioned is the strut. The struts are held in by the swaybar end links. Try sliding the knuckle up and down on the strut to get the swaybar endlink in place.

Thank you so much for the quick reply, this sounds far less terminal than I suspected, thank you for saving me a sleepless night tonight!

I did just go and have a quick try, but that strut doesn't seem to budge at all with the knuckle. I even tried putting some pressure on with the jack but it doesn't seem to change anything.

Am I doing something wrong?

And thank you again for your help!

GOT IT! Rubber mallet on the top of the hub while trying to push the bolt in did the trick, at a certain point it just slid in. THANK YOU SO MUCH for your help!!!

Nice disk btw, which one is it? I like the combination that sharpens the pads ...
