Weird Wiper Issue

Replacing the wipers on my '97 Boxster. I bought the Bosch 582S 2-pack. It comes with a 22" wiper with a "wing" for the driver side and a 21" curved wiper for the passenger side. By all accounts, these are the correct replacement blades for my car. I measured the blades, they are indeed 22" and 21". The issue is, when I turn on the wipers, the 22" driver side runs about an inch onto the trim of the windshield. There is only one way for the blade to go on, so I know it's not backwards. What the heck is going on here?

Pics are on my post on Rennlist, as they're easier to upload.

did you measure each or compare to ones taken off? I'd start there...

Can't recall specifically from memory but do not believe they overlap when in stored position...

Good luck

The ones that came off were generic 22" blades on both sides. I have rarely driven in the rain, so never noticed that the old one was running onto the trim also.

I guess I'll go buy a shorter one for the driver side. Maybe 20 inches? It's just confusing that these are the designated size and it can be that far off.

Since it had generic blades, maybe you have the wrong arm, too. Or maybe the arms were switched? (assuming one arm is shorter than the other)

What were the measurements of the old blades?

The old blades were both 22" and the old driver side ran onto the trim also. Which I had never noticed before.

Good thought about the arms. That never would have occurred to me. I just measured, the passenger side arm is about 15", the driver side arm is about 19". Maybe they were swapped at some point?

*Edited
Some quick research seems to show the longer arm should be on the passenger side.****

It's possible that they were swapped. I don't have mine nearby otherwise I'd measure for you to see which arm belongs where, but I'm guessing the shorter arm should go on the driver's side, with the longer blade. If it's not too difficult, try swapping them and see what happens. My guess is that that's your problem.

Edit:
I just saw your edit. LOL Yeah, problem solved.

Well, that was it. The arms were on the wrong sides. As I was swapping them, it dawned on me that I had the windshield replaced about 6 weeks ago. Maybe, since there were 22" wipers on each side, they didn't pay attention to which one went where when they put it back together. All is perfect now.

Perfect! Don't you wish all fixes were that easy?
