Help with vacuum line
I am in the process of replacing all the vacuum lines
while trying to clean the throttle body, i broke 2 of them :) so figured if i am fixing 2, might as well do the rest all are done now except the one behind the vacuum reservoir its the one that goes from the changeover valve to the vacuum line junction next to reservoir what i need to do is to plug a hose from E to G but can't get access to E is there anyway to get to this WITHOUT removing the alternator OR intake manifold? i tried removing the secondary air pump and tried to go in through the gap between the intake manifold i can just barely touch it, but the existing U shaped hose is stuck on tight and i can't get a good enough grip on it to pull it out, to plug in the new hose. i thought maybe angled pliers to hold the old hose and pull it out? https://986forum.com/forums/uploads0...1480905094.jpg |
Just an opinion, but I think that trying to do it without removing the alternator or intake will take longer and lead to more frustration. With the alternator out of the way it's fairly easy.

i did manage to do it from above the engine using these angled pliers https://www.harborfreight.com/11-in-45-bent-nose-long-reach-pliers-64088.html i pulled out the U shaped rubber piece from the changeover valve using the pliers and replaced it with 4mm silicon hose i always have a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol in my car sprayed a little on the tip of the rubber hose, so it just slipped onto the nipple of the changeover valve. worked perfect and no more check engine light :) |
