Any way to secure clamshell with to in manual operation?

I just put on a new top which isn’t being stretched properly because the top is being used in manual open/close due to motor failure. my question is has anyone found a way to secure the clamshell without the arms being connected? Any ideas would be appreciated no matter how it’s rigged I’m just sick of it sitting up higher with the new top and the banging with potholes.

The clamshell does not do the stretching. Hold down cables do.

I had that epiphany in the middle of the night. I will try to install just those cables today and hope they are in the closed position as I have no way to get the motor to turn. I acquired it this way, so I have limited knowledge of how it all goes back together, but through the blessing of YouTube I’ll hopefully get there.

Got it! Thank you! They had unnecessarily disconnected the hold down cables.
