Oil filler hose replacement

Hi folks,

I'm neck-deep into doing preventative maintenance on my '99 Boxster with 102k miles. It was running perfectly before I attacked it. So, it's got a new IMS bearing and RMS. While the transmission is out everyone says to replace the coolant reservoir tank in the trunk, so I did that today. It went smoothly enough, but I actually got stopped in my tracks at almost the last step.

I simply cannot press the oil fill tube, the one with the accordian kink in it, back on to its mate that goes under the plenum. I pushed as hard as I possibly could, and that oil fill tube hose will not go home. I pushed so hard I cracked its mate that attaches to the top of the engine, so now I get to pull the plenum between the intake manifolds. It was extremely hard to pull off, and I'm finding it impossible to push back on. Clearly I am missing something, but I cannot figure it out. See attached pic. Seems to be lined up ok, but I'm out of ideas.

Thanks in advance,

Steve in LA
