Dip stick tube loose
Today while checking my 98' Boxster's oil level, with the dip stick located in the rear trunk, I noticed as I was sliding the dipstick all the way back in the tube's end slid in about 1/4". Than made it difficult to push the yellow dipstick in all the way to the little O-ring seal.
My guess is the last oil change "monkey" forced the dip stick in too far after my last oil change (a few months ago)....but that's just a guess. How does the dip stick tube fasten to the oil/coolant "tray" in the rear trunk? Is there a way to keep the tube from moving when replacing the dip stick (without taking 1/2 the car apart)? Maybe I should try a plastic epoxy (JB Weld)?? http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1725660630.jpg |
So...I guess nobody else has had this issue......oh well.

Pictures in this thread and a solution for a potentially similar problem might give you some ideas: https://rennlist.com/forums/boxster-and-boxster-s-986-forum/1338297-986-oil-plastic-dipstick-guide-replacement.html
