Those in need of a headlight switch, I have found this is exactly the same from amazon and only worth $80. So far had for a year and still feels brand new. Easy install as well

Anyone planning to do a double din upgrade. From my personal experience this has been the absolute best kit for the conversion. Fits snug, has the matching OE color, allows for very easy cable routing without much hassle.
Everything basically slides into it without any size concerns. Might also add that it fit up to a 6.8'' Double Din. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1725628112.jpg |
To anyone who doesnt have an OE car shade. I found this one to fit absolutely perfect with my
99' Boxster. I live in a state that can reach 110+ degrees Fahrenheit on a day to day basis and it shows 0 signs of wear after a years usage outside (this car is garage kept obviously though i do take it to work). Also folds up extremely easily and small so you can slide it behind the passenger seat out of sight. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1725628321.jpg |
Ive posted this multiple times in other threads already but its a good need to know for ppl looking into key fob assistance.
From the service manual: The hand-held transmitter radio remote control function is unavailable under the following 5 circumstances: 1. Empty battery 2. Radio transmitter outside lock-in range: If the transmitter is operated more than 256 times without reaching the associated receiver (vehicle outside range or vehicle battery disconnected), the vehicle will not recognize the radio transmitter. If the number of operations is below 1,024, it is possible to re-synchronize: Switch on ignition with key and valid transponder. Switch off ignition. Remove ignition key from steering lock. Operate transmitter within 6 seconds after the key is removed. 3. Interference due to other users on same radio frequency: The key may be used to unlock the door manually, but this will not disarm the immobilizer (alarm). To disarm the alarm, insert the key in the ignition and turn. 4. Energy-saving mode: After 5 days of inactivity, the vehicle's radio receiver is switched off. The radio receiver will reactivate after the vehicle is started. 5. Fault in hand-held transmitter or vehicle: If the LED on the hand-held transmitter stays dark when the transmitter is operated, this means the battery is empty or the transmitter is faulty. If the LED on the hand-held transmitter flashes and the alarm readiness lamp on the dashboard flashes, then the transmitter and receiver are communicating. If the dashboard readiness lamp stays dark and conditions 1 to 4 above are ruled out, then there is a system fault with the vehicle. |

To some who don't think about it. Porsche Parts website does still have exploding diagrams for our cars. (I know this is obvious to many)
Though they may not sell a majority of them. Does still give you a good base to work off of with visual and part # to look for. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1725628964.jpg |
To those wanting to see how that double din bracket looks when installed. its a little dirty here and there i know that was just from install, took it before i actually DID clean it

The drive to work this morning, noticed the 2 outter LCDS finally caved. The left one showing miles had been out for a bit, oddly enough it still showed the miles and updated too if you held a light near it or the sun hit. So i wasnt really too concerned with replacing. Though the right showing time and oil life goin out is where i draw it lol. Looks like ill be on the hunt for some LCD replacements.
I wonder why itll still show the information, just without the bulbs LIT. ive swapped good bulbs in previously and still nothin so my guess is the screen itself. Side note: the numbers look weird because the previous owner attempted to put a white conversion kit over the black. though it was poorly done and didnt line up, If i end up replacing the LCD's i might take that poorly done job off and either correct it or just remove it entirely to reveal the black. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1725630465.jpg |

Another bit of useful information. For some weird reason, Porsche has fuses in A3 and A4 Marked down as only Side markers however if you ever have some issues with a taillight not working with good bulbs, check those 2 as they can be the culprit. A headlight switch can also be the reason for headlights / taillights not functioning properly.
