quick options questions

Guys, I have a few option codes that I have not been able to decode using the website(s) I've found while searching here. If you all could decode these for me, I'd appreciate it. My car is a 2002 Boxster S.

XAB, XMK, 239, 502

Also, what are the differences between and what constitute Design Package and Sport Design Package? Also, how do I know if the car has the Sport Chassis or traction/stability control? Option codes? I don't have a button on the dash to disable (I assume) stability control, but don't all of these cars come with traction (or is it stability) control standard?

Thanks for the help!

Hi,

Here you go:
  • XAB - Speedster Rear in exterior color

XMX - Fresh Air Vents in the center painted

M239 - 18" Wheels (generic designation - no particular wheel specified)

M502 - Produced by Valmet in Uusikaupunki, Finland

The options packages change from year-to-year and I don't have info on the '02s.

Traction/Stability Control is not standard. If you don't have the disabling switch, you do not have the option - M222 or P37. Hope this helps...

Thanks Jim. Is there an XMK option? That's what it looked like on the sticker, not XMX. Thanks!

That makes more sense. Thank you.

So if I had the Sport Chassis or one of the "design" packages, would those be coded options as well? Because I'm pretty sure that with the stiffness and stance of this car, it has at least the sport chassis.

Thanks again Jim.

Hi,

There are many itinerations of the Sports Pkg. Each offering the basic Sport Touring Pkg. along with some extra goodies. Their codes are:
  • P09 - Basic Sport Pkg.

    P10 - Sport Touring Pkg.

    P16

    P17

    P18

    P38

    P63

    P64

    P65

    P69

    P70

    P84

    P85

    P86

I'm not aware of any Sports Chassis (no Option Code for such a thing) you refer to, I believe that it's all the same chassis, but different suspension components and members. Hope this helps...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
