Leather Seat rejuvenation Help
 

Ok guys, I know atleast 3 people that can answer this question, MNboxster, Brucelee and insite....

My seats are starting to look like black painted cardboard, I didnt know they were suppose to look like nice supple leather until i seen a picture of someones boxster with new-ish looking leather. What can I do to rejuvenate my leather into like new texture??? Hopefully i can get some good recomendations of some store bought stuff and not something from a catalog.

I'm not a named expert, but I used leatherique products with some success. It all depends on how far "gone" the leather has become.

if you have worn off the coating you might need to get in touch with Leatherique and ask for one of their dye kits to fill in the discolored cracks. Their rejuvenator(cleaner) and prestine clean(conditioner) do wonders on 80's and early 90's leather like the 928. I'm not sure if Leatherique sell products for coated leather specifically but I use the prestine clean once a month to keep it soft during the colder month when leather can dry out.

1Z leather cleaner from openroadmotoring.com with a regular terry rag it will lift all kind of stuff off the leather that the over the counter stuff missed. What I love about the stuff is that it leaves it looking new instead of shiny and greasy. 1Z is for coated leather.

I have used Leatherique but I think the products from www.colorplus.com are better. She has a dye kit too. Great stuff.

I hired a pro to redye my seats and they looked beautiful , payed him $150.00 and 3 weeks later those faded cracks were worse than before. I called him and he redyed the seats a second time and 3 weeks later the same thing, so i gave up. :mad:

If there is a product on the net that does work, does it last??? :(

Hard to say without seeing the seats. Leatherique might do the job and it is a nice place to start. If the color is gone, personally I have a guy who does a very nice dye job for about $50 for say, a bolster.
