Car smokes a lot on and after full throttle
Hi all,
I’ve had this problem since I got the car 2 years ago but it’s gotten much worse lately and I’m worried about the possibility of fire. On full throttle and high RPM and for a short while afterwards I’ve noticed a pretty significant amount of smoke coming from underneath the rear wheel arches. When I had the car jacked up once I noticed burnt oil residue on the exhaust near the o2 sensor so I’m pretty sure that oil is leaking out onto this and burning. Does anyone know where the oil might be coming from? I’ve never noticed any drips underneath the car, and never visible smoke during chill drives either. I’ll attach the photo from when the car was jacked up. Thanks http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1714432157.jpg |
Spark plug tubes or cam covers.

Very hard to see on the picture. On my car, as part of the failure of the AOS (air-oil-separator), the rubber booth to the cam cover was ruptured and oil was leaking out, also onto the exhaust.
Furthermore I had a lot of oil in the intake which contributed to even more smell ;-) |
I had less oil, but paid the Porsche center a few grand to get the engine to pass the TÜV.

Ok thanks everyone for your insights. I haven’t had any smoke coming from the exhaust so I don’t think it’s AOS in my case but I’ll start with spark plug tubes first since thats cheap and relatively easy and report back here afterwards
