Tire PSI
I've been running with 35 psi front and rear in the new Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus tires I bought, but I noted the sticker on the underside of the frunk lid recommends 29 psi for the front and 36 psi for the rear. Now I'm all blowed up, as my dad used to say. What psi do you guys recommend? I searched the forum but came up empty.

I’ve been running the factory recommended pressures that you note. So far (around 170k miles) so good.
|
I also do what the factory recommendation is.

I adjusted the psi to the recommended 29 front, 36 rear. I don't notice any difference in handling, so that's good. I'd like to hear the rationale behind the pressure disparity between front and rear, especially considering it's a mid-engine car with more equally distributed weight and balance. Perhaps a couple of the folks who race Boxsters will chime in and enlighten me.

I always assumed the pressure differences were due to different tire sizes between the front and rear.

Physics….
….Your Boxster has staggered wheel sizes and a rear weight bias.
Follow what the engineers instructed. Enjoy the drive. |
