You need to ask Porsche style...

Generally speaking, you are correct by engineering design.

That said, you can always disconnect plug at latch and thus proverbially short circuit if there should be issues w latch switch at that location.

Yes, I definitely need to rephrase my question. Here goes: If the hood is closed, but not latched, does the frunk light remain on? The reason I ask, it's a pain to uncover the car to gain access to the lever on the door sill to open the frunk. If the hood is closed, but not latched, I can simply lift the front of the cover, trip the latch lever, and I'm in. A good plan, but only if the hood doesn't need to be tightly closed and latched to shut off the light. I considered asking someone to shut me inside the frunk so I could see for myself, but something about that plan bothered me.

Not sure about your ?2000?, but the power controller on my 2003 will shut that light off after some period of time. Maybe an hour, I’ve never actually timed it. Easy enough to verify for yourself…
