Oh boy,this just showed up on eBay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=ADME%3AL%3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1&viewitem=&item=270064613094&rd=1

What do you think the odds are of finding one in Zenith Blue like my Boxster considering that it was only available from 98-00'. That's exactly what I want,I would have to do some work to it though. Does anyone know if filling the scratches are as easy as sanding it down and filling? I would be willing to try and do it on my own if that's the case. I called the shop and they said there are no cracks/dents/indentations that I would have to worry about,just scratches. Any links to D.I.Y. scratch filling would be appreciated.

Thats crazy high. My body shop had to take my bumper, sand it down, fill in everything, fix some fiberglass, fill everyhting again, primer it, and paint it. I got all that, rear diffusers (which had to be painted twice due to the previous paint hated the new paint, lol), and bumperettes (primered many times to make them smooth) for $420. Id keep looking, tell them that you want a show quality finish and your willing to wait and pay for it, but you wont pay more than 500-600 (which is pretty reasonable for a great bumper painting)

Ok, I'll chime in... I run a large collision center in NJ. We do about 400k sales per month. It is just simple math to figure an estimate for the bumper paint.

Standard paint time in flat rate hours on a Boxster bumper is aproximately 3 plus 1 for clear coat.

Tinting color is aproximately .5 hrs charge
Nib sanding and buffing is another .5 hrs charge

Flex agent for the paint
Materials figured at 25.00 per hour
labor is 47.00 per hour

Calculation 5 hrs of labor at 47.00 = 235.00
materials at 5 hrs at 25.00 per hour = 125.00
Flex add is usually 7.00 = 7.00
Hazardous waste disposal = 3.00
Sales tax at 7%======================
395.90
------------------------------------------------------------

I think it is more than reasonable to get this done for 400 to 450 in a
quality collision center.

These prices are considering you provide the shop with a "A" quality bumper
that needs to be prepped, primed and painted. Any bodywork needing to be
done to the cover will add a few more hours to the mix.

If you ever get to NJ, I will get it painted for you! LOL

Best of luck!

I looked at the estimate that I was given;

body labor 8.4 hrs @ $68.00/hr $571
paint labor 4.2 hrs @ $68.00/hr $285

Thats where the bulk of the estimated cost was,did they try and screw me over?!

to have your bumper painted it shouldn't cost more then 200 each bumper .. i just had this done. The guy said the paint would cost 50-60 and the labor was like 150 and maybe additonal 60 for clear coat.
