Double DIN install... how do you buy Metra bezel kit?

Thought I had all my research done before-hand, but now i'm mid-install of a double DIN head unit, and finding out about all the HVAC quirks...

I have a small cubby with rounded corners in the lowest slot and I had a cd tray above that. Seems the hvac controls will only fit in that lowest slot, so I need a cubby with square corners and a bezel for the hvac controls in that lower slot now.

In researching this, came across the Metra bezel kit which appears to be both of what I need in one unit.

So dumb question.. how do you actually order it? It only links me to sign up as a distributor on their website.

I encountered the same issue. Sonic Electronics and Crutchfield seem to be the major on-line sellers in the car audio segment. I suggest that you contact one of them.

It is difficult to tell from photos on the Metra site, but I'm not sure their product will resolve your issue. It looks like it includes parts for the installation of the head unit only. You may need to purchase the cubby from someone parting out a car. That is what I did. You are correct that the upper and lower cubby's have a different shape and are not interchangeable.

If you need the part number for the cubby, please let me know and I will pull mine out.

I just Googled "Metra Boxster" and found a number of vendors that sell Metra part number 99-9605B, the same kit I used when I installed a double-din in my '02 S. These include main line retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy as well as specialists like Crutchfiled.

The kit includes a frame to mount the HVAC control in the lower console. My car's HVAC control was already in that position, so I didn't need to use that part, but it sounds like that's exactly what you need.

The kit also includes a frame to mount the double-din head unit in the dash. I did need to modify this frame a bit to properly fit my head unit but it's a well made part that that looks like it belongs. I'm well pleased with mine.

Be sure to post a photo of your install when you're done!
