Engine Start

Anyone have this experience? I can’t always start the engine from “P” and have to shift to “N” for my 2001 Boxster tiptronic. I have this problem on-and-off since 2 weeks ago.
Is this an engine problem, ignition, or battery??

Any idea, how much would cost to fix it? and is this an urgent problem
?

Thanks for your idea first.

Hi,

The Linkage for the Shifter is dirty, gunked-up and needs adjustment. It won't enageg the interlock switches which allow you to engage the starter. It is a Dealer Service. Mine ran me $168 2 years ago and the problem has not reoccurred. Hope this helps...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
