Uk RHD Boxster S, heater core swap

Morning.

I'm trying to change my heater core but have hit an issue.

I'm at the stage where all I should need to do is remove the old core and fit the new one, but there's a solid AC pipe blocking the core from being lifted out.

Has anyone else tackled this problem and won?

All they youtube videos for this appear to be LHD models where the pipe runs below the heater pipes, not above them.

No way around it, you'll have to disconnect the tube to get it out of the way, just like you did the windshield wiper apparatus. I didn't have to contend with that tube when I replaced my 986's heater core recently, but it's still much easier than it is on most other cars. I had to disassemble the entire dash to get to the heater core in a Pontiac.

So it turns out all I needed to do was cut the plastic cable tie supporting the pipe, then it has just enough flex to pull out of the way.

I didn't think that tie was holding it that firmly to start with but that's all it was. The car is now done, driven it this morning wirh glorious working heating for the first time in 2 years.

I stand corrected. I guess there was a way around disassembly after all. You lucked out. Removing the wiper assembly is enough of a pain.
