Oil Cooler
Is there an oil cooler on my car? If so, where is it?

I just did a quick search cause you helped me a lot.
http://db.theautochannel.com/db/ncbg/show_car.php?id=16650 Ok, it doesn't say where it is, but it says there is one on an 05 S, so presumably yours would have one too. Guess that answers half of it? |
Hi,
Yes there is an Oil/Coolant Heat Exchanger on your car, not the traditional Oil Radiator cooled by air flowing through it. All M96 Engines have one. It is attached to the top, left rear of the Crankcase under the left Intake Manifold. It is also finned and gets some cooling from the limited airflow as well, but most of the cooling is accomplished by passing the heat to the Coolant which then carries it to the Radiators for release to atmosphere. You must remove the Center Intake Plenum to access it. Hope this helps... Happy Motoring!... Jim'99 |
