Is it just manufacturing results from welding stud to body?

It has the appearance of welding, but I'd expect that to be done before painting the car. The ground wires don't look like they have been hot. I don't have a Boxster with me to compare at the moment. I recommend removing the nuts and wires to examine the studs. Is there corrosion? Slag? If it looks good, clean it with a wire brush and re-assemble.

I've been through my car's electrical and have never seen that kind of a welding job.
