clutch slave installation
I'm battered and bruised. 2000 Boxster S and I'm trying to install a new clutch slave cylinder. it's in the hole but for the life of me I can't get it to seat in the transmission let alone install the mounting bolt. I can move it forward enough to feel it push against the fork and compress slightly but I'm missing something. What have others used to seat this thing. The alloy cross arms have been removed and the cover plate is off. Working blind here letterly and figuratively . Any help would be appreciated....thanks!

Not one of my favorite jobs, and I have to do it again soon. And I can't remember how I succeeded in doing it 3 times before. I either used a lever to move it forward enough to get the bolt in or I used a length of wood pushing on the rear of the cylinder to be able to push it forward. It can be done. Good luck.

Having performed this operation makes you my new hero!
A little encouragement goes a long way....thanks! |
It goes in a lot easier if the transmission/transaxle is not fully mounted to the motor. Maybe if there is about 1/4" to 1/2" separation between the motor and the transmission, it will install much easier. Then push the transmission in-place and tighten the bolts. It's what I do when doing clutch work or IMS bearing replacement.
