What is this part from 986 convertible top?

I have a 2003 Boxster.

The ball head screw that attaches to the convertible tension cable has broken. It is the screw shown in the image below.

How would I find the part number to buy a replacement screw? Thank you for any help you can give!

For anyone searching for this similar part, I found the part number. It is

986 561 901 02

Unfortunately this one small screw is only sold as one component of another, larger part. This larger part was quoted at around $1100 at my local Porsche dealership.

Does anyone in this community have a 986 Boxster they are using for parts? I would be happy to buy this screw!

I'm missing the same screw. Please post if you're able to locate one. Thanks:cheers:

I'll take a look through my parts collection and see if I still have some. I know I sent a couple of those out in the past. I'm working 12 hour shifts through the holiday weekend, so it may take a few days before I get to it. If I find one or more, I'll post back with a pic.

Edit: I thought that picture looked familiar. http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-cayman-parts-sale-wanted/78886-wtb-convertible-top-tension-cable.html#post625401

Then I realized that the car I drove to work today has a pair of them attached to the roll bar. This car will not be using the soft top again:

So, a couple minutes with a 7mm wrench and I have two that I can mail after the weekend. Porsche wants $1,100? How about over a 90% discount and I'll ship them for $100 each?

(Just pm me an address and I'll mail it for free.)

Hopefully you've already solved your problem........but in the future, owners might want to call around to local auto scrap yards. Most good ones have an "inventory" of the old junks they have on their lots. The larger the city the more junk yards you have to search. A couple of those little attachment pieces might cost $2-$5 at most.

Just a suggestion for the future.

Thanks for the replies and the offer to sell this screw. I was able to fabricate a good solution with a regular screw with a rounded top that I had laying around. The ball joint seems to have the same range of motion as intended.

If you're missing the same part then I suggest trying to fit a regular screw before paying any large amounts for a single screw.

I was able to use a regular screw I had in my workbench to use instead of the special ball head screw. It seems to work just fine, with the range of motion of the ball joint seemingly as intended.

Thank you for the offers to sell the screw anyway.
