Who has changed coolant
Now that our 986s are 20+ years old, who here has changed their "lifetime" coolant? Did mileage matter, or just age?

There is no such thing as "lifetime" anything in these cars. Every time we get a car in for service, we run a series of tests on the coolant (pH, clarity, freeze point, check for signs of electrolysis, etc.) to see where the coolant is. Normally, we change out the coolant between year 5 and year 7 based upon these tests, or sooner if it becomes contaminated in any way or fails a test.

Completely agree that “lifetime” is a misnomer. One has to understand the definition of “lifetime” and it isn’t from now until the Sun burns out. It’s typically 10 years or 100k mi.

The water pump is not a 'lifetime' water pump. Replace the coolant when you replace the pump about every 5 years regardless of mileage.
