Error Code 8002 Fix (Manual convertible Top --2005 Boxster)
 

I just wanted to throw this out there in case anyone else gets this error code and needs to perform a search.

I changed my battery a week ago and have been troubleshooting this error for some time. My Duramatric SW called out the Control Unit PN: 997.610.102.04

All the cables are fine, and the rest of my diagnostics are great so I was going to replace this module, but I eventually lowered the top to help with threading my laptop power cable into the car and the error code (and check engine light) cleared up.

It also helps to know I converted my top to manual operation after replacing those PITA plastic end-caps twice.

So, if you've gutted the automatic components of your convertible top, simply lowering it might clear this fault.
