Cranking with no start 986

Hello all,
I have a 2000 Boxster S. Yesterday morning car cranked an unusual amount of times before starting. Drove fine until work 15 miles later where I parked it for 10 hours. After work cranked an unusual amount of times again before starting this time with it being semi rough during the startup process. It ran perfectly fine all the way to the gas station. After getting gas car would crank and crank and no fire up. Initially it almost started but eventually wouldn't come close to firing up just cranking. I had it towed home and is now in my garage. I smelled gas after cranking a bit. Battery power seems strong. The other day prior to this all I think I noticed when I was rolling into my garage the rpms dropped a tiny bit for a second. Other than that no noticeable performance issues. Car has full tank now but had low gas before gas station. I'm reading all possible things between, crankshaft positition sensor to fuel pump to spark plugs just hoping I could be pointed in a correct direction. No check engine lights.

See if there are any codes.

Check the seating of the fuel pump relay in the drivers kick well.
Could be fuel filter, or fuel pressure regulator.

Otherwise its a process of elimination.

If you smell fuel, it could be the crank positioning sensor..?
