Emissions control dash warning light

I recently bought a 1998 Boxster with 43,000 miles and last night the orange emissions warning light came on while driving. The car was running fine and all other gages were as normal. I’m seeking advice on what I should do next, and whether the car should be driven?

If your talking about the check engine light???
Then the next thing to do is hook up an OBDII scanner to the OBDII port and retrieve the codes.
Post them here and we will see if we can help.
Unless the light flashes while driving then it is safe to drive the car.

As mentioned -- get a cheap obi reader

https://www.amazon.com/Interface-Scanner-Diagnostic-Original-Support/dp/B07L4926C1/ref=asc_df_B07L4926C1/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312029767170&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10614868522633815461&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9028303&hvtargid=pla-625356713193&psc=1

Post codes -- also did you get gas recently -- check your gas cap tightness -- or if you had it running while filling, it will set off the light, but might not be immediately.
