Headlight mess
I started trying to use electrical tape and everything I moved just falls apart. Is it worth rewiring? Porsche sure used small wire. They lenses buffed out real nice but the inner lenses have some burn. Are new bulb and socket connectors available? http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1677084709.jpg

Certain to have issues with shorts and also a possible fire with that wiring. |
I got my car last year and found the same problem, had to cut and replace every wire in the whole harness. Big pain but worth it in the end.
If possible, use dark colored wire for the forward sections- I didn't realize that brighter colors would be visible through the inner plastic and now it looks kind of silly in the sunlight. Not worth it at this point to pull it apart and redo, but wish I had thought of it in the first place. |
I did this with a Mercedes throttle body. I kept the original connectors but soldered new wires in between, with heat shrink on the ends to cover the original wiring.

You can buy reproduction harnesses. $139 a pair.

I spliced wires in and shrink wrapped the ends. I guess I should check the other light. The pair of harnesses is a good idea. This was tedious.
