Any ideas what this is?

I found one on the internet, it is an antenna. I'm not sure what it goes to, maybe an aftermarket alarm or a remote start. Can you even do that on a standard? I have not torn the dash apart to see where it wires in.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1673383607.jpg

I've never seen anything like that, but I'd start with searching up any manufacturer or model info you can find on the casing, can't see it well enough on the photo to tell. Is there some text around what looks like a little round button there?

Looks like a remote starter antenna. Autostart TW-130 maybe.

It does have TW-130 on it. I guess if I had the remote it would be worth messing with. I guess you leave the car in neutral with the E brake on. Any idea where the module for it is in the car? Hopefully they didn't cut up a harness to install it.

If your car has been wired with a remote start, I promise you a bag of surprises under your dash...

I have a true keyless push start on mine and I can tell that it takes A LOT of knowledge and rewiring to make something like that work.

Plus, if they installed that, there are probably other surprises too (dead switch, LoJack antenna, etc).

I think…

….I used to date a girl who carried one of those around. Strange.

I found it by the fuse box. Now what to do!
Put the covers back on?
Unplug the box and put the cover back on?
Meticulously undo the many splices one at a time?
I live in Southeast Texas and will never need a remote start especially on a standard trans auto.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1674751817.jpg

Don't unplug it. Your car may not start.

My god that's a mess of a wiring job. I would either remove it as you said, or just button her back up and never speak of this again.

Hahaha

I found a local business that has installed these and is familiar with them. Going to let him take it all out. He said there are some wires that need to be reconnected such as safety neutral switch. I worked on copiers for 40 years and wiring does not normally scare me. I will let him handle this one!

Finally got it removed. A manual transmission car never had any business with a remote start!http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1683903658.jpg
