Thoughts on powder coating calipers
I have a 2004 Boxster special edition, so the calipers are matte silver. The back calipers look good, but the fronts seem to have a buildup of dust that I can't get off. Plus, I would prefer "shiny" calipers like a Boxster S to the matte finish they have now.
I have painted calipers in the past, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience with sending the calipers off to be powder coated. Any recommendations for a shop? |
wouldn't you now have an issue with the piston bores -- you'd have to either block that off, or hone them out.

I think most powder coaters block them off.

I have sent motorcycle brake calipers to get powder coated many times. Just make sure they block off everything where you don`t want sand gotten into and remove everything that won`t withstand high temperaure.

I did mine. You should rebuild them and the inner seals are a bit of a bear to get. Make sure whomever does it knows how to handle and mask calipers. I had to have mine stripped and done again. Do they look awesome? Yes! Was it expensive and a ton of work and back and forth yes as well.

I had the calipers repainted, he re-did the lettering and then clear coated everything. I found new emblems for the wheels on ebay.
