Tire Decision

I'm in the position that tires will need to be replaced in the spring after winter storage.

My option are as follows:

Continental Extreme Contact DWS, Z rated, 560 treadwear rating and $290.00 each
Continental Contipro Contact NOT Z rated, 500 treadwear rating and $314.75 each
Michelin Pilot Sport all season, Z rated, 540 treadwear rating and $328.99 each
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Summer, Z rated, 300 treadwear rating and $394.99 each
Michelin Pilot Super Sport, 300 treadwear rating and $352.02 each.

I drive pretty easy. I occasionally run a bit hard, but more so in straight line acceleration, no track and sometimes a little quick in twisties on a back road. I just don't drive too fast anymore.

So with my driving characteristics in mind does anyone have any thoughts on which above tire might be the best choice? I want to have a combo of quiet, comfort and handling while not having to replace the tires every year to 2 years. I got rid of my SL500 with multiple sets of the Super Sport tires and I only got 8K miles at best out of them. Has anyone experienced either of the Continental tires or the Pilot Sport all season that have higher treadwear ratings and did they hold up for a decent amount of miles?

Where are you buying your tires? Those prices seem really high, I've never paid more than $180 a tire online. I searched the Continental Extreme Contact DWS on TireRack and the 235/45/17 size are $148 each. TireRack will deliver to a shop so you don't have to transport them to a tire shop.

I've had Continentals in the past and was happy with them, right now I am running BF Goodridge g-Force. I always seem to go through two sets of rear tires for every set of front tires regardless of brand. I normally look at the reviews on TireRack and balance price and performance.

BF Goodrich stopped making the G force tire for Boxster. Shame. Great cornering tire. Currently on Continental DWS. OK but not as spirited as the Goodrich tires.

Look at Sumotomo HTR-Z5 or HANKOOK VENTUS V12 EVO2
both good choices and less $$

285/35-18 is a pretty wide tire for stock wheels 265/35-18 is normal for 18's
what are you running on the front?

this is for my 911 not the Boxster.

My 08 Box S LE came with ContiPro tires (I think it was III) and it was a very good tire - nice ride, good mileage (think it was 35K mi), and good handling. They're probably into version XI by now and they were somewhat expensive tires to replace, but I had very good luck with them. I didn't drive my LE on the track and just spirited drives at fun runs.

Yes, I was considering Conti or Mich, but in the end... money is money.
I went with General G Max RS.
Great grip, quiet, cheap.
Sure, you could go much better for grip, but if you do not regularly track it and do not need to shave 2 seconds from you 95 second lap, then those are just fine.
